Friends of Beckman Mill

Beckman Mill Park is located 6 miles west of Beloit, Wisconsin at 11600 South County Road H. It is one mile south of State Highway 81 and approximately 1/2 mile north of the Wisconsin-Illinois stateline. Friends of Beckman Mill, Inc. was formed in 1990. The group is responsible for not only the restoration of the mill, but also these other park attractions: new dam, fish ladder, millpond, frog pond, foot bridge, saw mill display, 1848 cooperage, visitor center, gift shop, creamery display, blacksmith display, nature trail, restroom facilities, vintage garden and storage barn. Guided tours of the mill are available for individuals, families and small groups on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 PM May through October. Admission is $3 per person. Children 6 and under and members of Friends of Beckman Mill are admitted free. School groups and group tours should make arrangements in advance.

Green County Fairgrounds is a 38 acre multi purpose facility. We have a campground with 100 sites. We are on the Green County ATV trail and our facility is just blocks from the downtown square of Monroe. We have great halls for renting, multiple livestock barns with milking facilities and a track with amphitheater that seats 1800. We host many activities throughout the year. During our winter months we take in campers, RV's, boats and cars for storage.

National Historic Cheesemaking Center

The National Historic Cheesemaking Museum is located at the southern gateway to Wisconsin, just a few miles north of the Illinois/Wisconsin line. The staff eagerly awaits your visit to tell you the story of early cheesemaking which earned Monroe the title of the "Cheese Capital of the USA." During your visit, step inside the century old Imobersteg Cheese Factory to witness how cheese was made over a century ago. Each year on the second Saturday of June, join Master Cheesemakers and retired cheesemakers as they make a 90 pound wheel of Swiss cheese, right before your eyes. Enjoy a video showing the cheesemaking process in today's cheese factories.
